Accessibility
Last updated 5 October 2026
We want anyone to be able to look at a piece, read its condition honestly and reach us — whatever device or assistive technology they use. This statement sets out where the site stands today, including what we know is not yet right.
1. Our commitment
ESTEÉ & CO. is a microenterprise, and Greek law implementing the European Accessibility Act exempts businesses of our size from certain obligations. We publish this statement anyway: we would rather meet the standard than rely on the exemption.
2. The standard we work to
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the standard referenced by EN 301 549 and by Greek Law 4994/2022.
3. Where we stand
The site is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially conformant means most of the standard is met but some parts are not yet. No independent accessibility audit has been carried out; the assessment below is our own, made by reviewing the live site.
4. What is in place
- Every image carries alternative text, so screen readers describe each piece rather than skipping it
- Every form field has a visible, properly associated label
- The site can be operated by keyboard, and pages follow a logical heading order
- Animation and scroll effects are switched off automatically when your device asks for reduced motion
- The page language attribute follows the English / Greek switch, so screen readers pronounce the text correctly
- Layouts reflow to small screens without horizontal scrolling, and form text is set at 16px so phones do not force a zoom
5. What we know is not yet right
- There is no “skip to content” link, so keyboard users pass through the navigation on every page
- One page carries two level-one headings where it should carry one
- Some small-capital labels are set at 10–11px, which is smaller than we would like for comfortable reading
- On form fields, the focus indicator is a change of border colour rather than a distinct outline, which is less visible than it should be
- No formal audit has yet been commissioned, so there may be issues we have not found
6. Telling us about a problem
If something on this site is difficult or impossible for you to use, write to [email protected] and tell us what happened and which page. We aim to reply within five working days.
If you cannot use part of the site, we will give you the same information another way — by email, by telephone, or in person in Athens — and we will complete a purchase or an enquiry with you directly.
7. Enforcement
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may raise the matter with the competent Greek authority under Law 4994/2022, which implements the European Accessibility Act. We would rather you came to us first and gave us the chance to put it right.
8. This statement
Prepared by reviewing esteeandco.com against WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We review it when the site changes materially, and the date at the top of this page changes with it.
